Abdominoplasty / Tummy tuck

A tummy tuck or dermolipectomy is a surgical procedure that removes excess skin and fat from the lower abdomen. It removes the distended skin and strengthens the abdominal muscles: it is a real tummy lift that will “rejuvenate” the lower abdomen.

This intervention can be covered by social security after prior agreement when the abdomen has been weakened (diastasis) by pregnancies and especially after significant weight loss and when there is excess skin (apron) that falls on the pubis ( hairy area).

Otherwise, the intervention is purely cosmetic, in this case nothing is covered by health insurance.

General anaesthesia
RETURN TO DAILY LIFE: 2 to 3 weeks
FINAL RESULT: 2 months

The incision is made in the lower part of the abdomen in a fold usually covered by the panty. The skin of the abdomen is then peeled upwards to the ribs. The umbilicus remains where it is placed.

The abdominal muscles can then be tightened, this is called the diastasis cure. The skin of the abdomen is stretched downwards and excess skin and fat are removed.

Although having a bad reputation, this procedure is not very painful. There is a feeling of tension calmed by simple analgesics (Paracetamol).

It is necessary to envisage a convalescence of 2 to 3 weeks in order to allow the tissues to better attach themselves. A sheath should be worn for a month. Scar disinfection treatments are performed every day after showering until the threads are removed on the 15th day.
