Otoplasty / Ear Surgery

OPERATION OF THE REMOVED EARS

It is necessary to wait for this intervention at the minimum age of 7 years because the growth of the ear must be sufficient for the correction to be lasting.

The anesthesia can be “pure local” especially in adolescents or adults but most often it is preferable to perform “neuroleptanalgesia” with which is associated a local anesthesia, more rarely a general anesthesia with tracheal intubation (child).

The skin is sutured then a lightly compressive bandage and worn for 24 hours. Hospitalization is outpatient in case of local anesthesia and 1 day in case of general anesthesia.

This intervention can be covered by social security without prior agreement, especially before the age of 16.
