Otoplasty / Ear Surgery

CORRECTION OF PROMINENT EARS

Before performing this procedure, it is necessary to wait until the patient is at least 7 years old because the growth of the ear must be sufficient for the correction to last.

The anesthesia can be “local”, especially in adolescents or adults, but most often it is preferable to perform “neuroleptanalgesia” with which is associated a local anesthesia, and in some rare cases, a general anesthesia with tracheal intubation (child).

The skin is stitched and then a light compressive bandage must be worn for 24 hours. Hospitalization is an outpatient case if local anesthesia is used and 1 day in case of general anesthesia.

This intervention can be covered by social security without prior agreement, especially before the age of 16.

Dr BENADIBA is a specialist in reconstructive surgery of the ears.
